Everytime you use the telephone, while the phone is stationary in your hand, the earth continues to spin. This causes the cord to twist, and eventually "knot up". In fact, our research indicates that if you were to stay on the phone for twenty years, the cord would be so knotted and twisted, it would actually slow the earth's rotation resulting in global warming!
